In 1999- 2000 a complete reconstruction of the theatre was accomplished and today “Electron” is up-to-date equipped. Its spacious hall with comfortable armchairs seats 668 persons and includes a large VIP-zone. “Electron” is located near a large trading center at the intersection of Square of Yunost and Central Avenue . That is especially convenient for those who want to combine cinema with other types of leisure.

There is a cinema bar and entertaining slot machines for children on the second floor of the cinema. The interior appearance of the hall justifies the name of the cinema and resembles the epoch of the sixties, when the Humanity looked up to the stars and strived for scientific discoveries.

Memories of Vera Alexandrovna Berdnikova, first director of “Electron” movie theatre:

“In the early sixties I was the administrator of “Sokol” movie theatre, I also worked in the Moscow Department for “Kinofikatsiya” (kinofikatsiya: a set of measures to develop cinema industry). I was appointed to find a director for Zelenograd movie theatre, young city then. I was thinking about the case and decided to take up this job. I wasn't discouraged by the fact that there was no cinema then, only walls.

There was plenty of trouble because I had to work alone. Before the cinema started working, I wasn't given any helpers. I had to become both provider and builder. Cinema equipment was distributed centrally, but armchairs, say, I had to get myself. What do you think was the first enterprise to produce armchairs for “Electron”? You'll never guess, that was an accordion plant. The pipes that fix these armchairs were wangled out of the metrostroevtsy (underground builders). Hardware engineers helped to weld electrodes that are used in welding these pipes. So the first Zelenograd movie theater was a real building area. “Electron” was built in an unimaginably short period of time – less than two years.

The opening of “Electron” was a real event in the cultural life of Zelenograd. “Electron” was working incessantly, nocinema could boast of 93 percent of capacity utilization. There were full cinema halls even at the daytime.

The builders of Zelenograd loved movie, especially Indian. I successfully insisted that new films should be brought once or twice a week.

There weren't any cultural places except a movie theatre at that time. That's why “Electron” has become a permanent meeting point. There took place conferences of the party, functions and the performances of the Club for the Lightheaded and Quick-witted…”
