Medallion helped to find a Red Army soldier - a native of Rzhavka village who died in Smolensk

June 11 at the Central Municpal Cemetery, Soldier Stars Memorial, there was held a reburial of remains of the Red Army soldier Alexey Ivanovich Khoteyev, who died in the Great Patriotic War.

April 28, 2014 the remains of the Red Army soldier were found near Smolensk, during the Memory Watch that was carried out in the Gagarinskiy district, Smolensk region by the Vympel interregional public organization.

Khoteyev Alexey Ivanovich, born in 1905, native of Rzhavka village, Khimki District, Moscow Region, was a Red Army soldier of 32 rifle regiment of 19 rifle division. He, like other young men, was called to the front. He went missing in August 1941 during the fierce battles of Yelnya (Smolensk region). It is in this area of the former military actions that his remains were found by the search team led by I.Nahodkin.

The ceremony was hosted by the Head of the Military Commissariat of Moscow City of Zelenograd district, E.Merzlikin. There also took place a memorial meeting. Relatives were awarded a medallion found, documents and a "shagnuvshiy v bessmertiye" medal (immortal for all eternity).

The burial was organized following all the honors. There took place a solemn Ceremony of Folding Russian Flag. The national anthem and salute sounded over the tomb of the Hero. After the salute, sailors paid tribute to the Hero, marching past Soldier Stars Memorial, where the burial took place.

Oleg Alexeevich Khoteev and Yulia Alexeevna Khoteeva, grandchildren of Alexei Ivanovich, live in Zelenograd.
